Augsburg s Schieber ruled out with knee injury
Berlin July 19 (IANS) German football club FC Augsburg has announced that new striker Julian Schieber will be sidelined with a knee injury for several weeks.
The striker had to undergo surgery after problems with his left knee following a friendly match on Wednesday the Bundesliga club announced.
"The doctors told us that the operation was successful. We wish Julian all the best for his rehabilitation " Augsburg s sporting director Stefan Reuter said.
After four injury-plagued years at Hertha Berlin the 29-year-old had agreed to transfer to league rivals Augsburg after penning a three-year deal.
"The first few weeks at Augsburg have been extremely positive for me. Unfortunately this injury is a setback during the preparations. However I look forward positively and I am sure that I will emerge stronger from it " Schieber told the club s official website.
