Rs.5 lakh financial assistance for former archer

New Delhi July 24 (IANS) The Union Sports Ministry on Tuesday sanctioned financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to former archer Ashok Soren who is currently living in an indigent condition in Jamshedpur.
Media reports had emerged that the 28-year-old was working as a labourer under the government s rural employment guarantee scheme.
Soren won two gold medals at the 2008 South Asian Games.
The financial assistance has been given from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons.
