Sao Paulo eyeing bid for Paraguay defender Moreira
Rio de Janeiro Aug 14 (IANS) Sao Paulo could make a bid to sign Paraguay international defender Jorge Moreira from River Plate the Brazilian football club s coach has announced.
A series of injuries have meant that Moreira has not played since last October but that hasn t dampened the enthusiasm of the current Brazilian Serie A leaders reports Xinhua news agency.
"I don t like to talk about players from other clubs but it s true that he is a very good player and we consider him to be a possible (transfer) target " Sao Paulo s Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre told reporters on Monday.
"I ve seen a lot of him. He is a potent player with an eye for goal. The (transfer window) closes on Wednesday which makes things difficult " Aguirre added.
Moreira is contracted with River Plate until June 2020 having joined the Argentine club from Paraguay s Libertad in 2016.
The 28-year-old right-back has been capped 15 times for Paraguay since his international debut in 2013.
