Cibulkova beats Kasatkina in Wuhan Open 3rd round, moves on to last 8
Wuhan (China) Sep 26 (IANS) Slovakia s Dominika Cibulkova defeated No. 13 seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-3 7-6 (3) on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open.
Cibulkova continued the form which saw her eliminate world number one Simona Halep in round 2 seeing off the Wimbledon and Roland Garros quarter-finalist in one hour and 43 minutes reports Efe news.
The Slovakian came out aggressively hitting five winners in the first two games as Kasatkina struggled to cope with Cibulkova s firepower.
The Russian was able to challenge Cibulkova during a more evenly-matched second set but the Slovakian ultimately edged the tight encounter.
Cibulkova advances to the quarter-finals where she will face Belarus Aryna Sabalenka.
