Kaneria admits to spot-fixing after six years of denial

Dubai, Oct 18 (IANS) Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has admitted to having a role in a spot-fixing scandal in England after denying the same for the last six years.In an interview with Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit, Kaneria, who is Pakistan's most successful Test spinner, has said: "My name is Danish Kaneria and I admit that I was guilty of the two charges brought against me by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2012.""I have become strong enough to make this decision because you cannot live a life with lies."Kaneria was banned from all cricketing activities in 2012.The 37-year old was banned after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) investigated claims of spot-fixing during a county championship match between Durham and Essex in 2009.Kaneria has played 61 Test matches and taken 276 international wickets.
