2018 was the Golden year for Test cricket

WTN- Year 2018 was the most result-oriented in history of test cricket, with 48 matches played in 2018 with 43 matches giving results. The ratio of 43/48 is highest ever in test cricket. And India was the best thing for Test cricket all through. India maintained top test ranking in most part of the year .
2018 was the year on bowlers. Bowlers giving only 27.58 runs per wicket , the lowest since year 1959.
Not even match-fixing led to big misfortune. Suspension of Steve Smith and David Warner , underlined what cricket means to Australians.
It was wonderful to see Afghanistan and Ireland in to the Test club. Considered as minnows , Afghanistan proved everyone wrong in this Asia Cup of 2018. But for their elevation to be real, they need to play a lot more than the odd Test.
No surprise that seven out of the top ten ODI wicket-takers were spinners, and six of them wrist-spinners and mystery spinners. Wickets, and the prospect of wickets, made the middle over very important.
Pakistan were the king of T20 for the second year in running in 2018, winning 17 of their 19 matches.
The women’s game became bigger and faster. There were more games, more runs, more sixes and higher run-rates. But a lot remains to done.
T10 began in 2018, the shortest format of the game and soon we shall see a T10 century.
Virat Kohli can be considered as the cricketer of the year. It was impossible to take eyes off him by almost all greats of the game. His bat sizzled, his rage burned the field and his energy was inexhaustible. Cricketers and cricket lovers loved him and cricket must be grateful for him for bringing highest of standards.
