Cyclist Enric Mas signs three-year contract with Movistar

Madrid, Aug 8 (IANS) Clyclist Enric Mas has signed a three-year contract with Movistar, the Spanish WorldTour squad announced on Thursday.The 24-year-old Spaniard, who debuted in the 2019 Tour de France, joined Movistar from Belgian team Deceuninck-Quick Step."Mas' arrival to the Movistar Team unites the most renowned Spanish team at the Grand Tours in history with the country's best hope for stage races," Movistar said in a statement.The Balearic Islands native put on a strong performance at the Tour de France while wearing the white jersey as leader of the Young Riders' competition, Efe news reported.He was also placed second in the 2018 Vuelta a Espana, which is his greatest career achievement to-date.Mas was trained in the ranks of the Alberto Contador Foundation until 2015, when he moved to the Deceuninck-Quick Step.
