Anderlecht beat APOEL 1-0 in Europa League
Nicosia (Cyprus) March 10 (IANS) Belgian Anderlecht scored an 1-0 away win over Cypriot football champions APOEL in their first round game of the 16 stage of the Europa League.
The game s only goal was scored in the 29th minute by Nicolae Stanciu who took advantage of a slack in the APOEL defensive line reports Xinhua news agency.
The home team put pressure on Anderlecht in the second half and had its chance to level the score when a Vander Vieira s long cross hit the cross-bar.
Anderlecht will have the advantage of their away goal when they play the return match at home in a week.
