Madagascar s Ahmed elected CAF President
Cairo March 16 (IANS) The head of Madagascar s soccer federation Ahmed Ahmed was on Thursday elected the new president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after defeating CAF s former president Issa Hayatou.
Ahmed who will now lead CAF from 2017 through 2021 won the election with 34 votes against 20 for Cameroon s Hayatou who had been president of the confederation for almost three decades reports Efe.
The CAF presidential elections were held on Thursday on the sidelines of the confederation s general assembly meeting at Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
