Bopanna-Cuevas enter Monte Carlo quarters

Roquebrune-Cap-Martin (France) April 21 (IANS) Indian star Rohan Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas have entered the men s doubles quarter-finals at the Monte Carlo Masters tennis tournament following a hard fought three-set win over fifth seeds Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram here.

The Indo-Uruguayan combination lost the first set before staging a comeback to script a 6-7(6) 6-4 10-6 win over the South African-American pair in a second round match that lasted around one hour and 33 minutes at the Monte Carlo Country Club here on Thursday night.

Bopanna and Cuevas are expected to face a tough challenge in the last eight stage as they will be up against top seeds Henri Kontinen of Finland and Australia s John Peers.

Kontinen and Peers defeated the formidable Serbian team of Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki 6-3 6-4 in their second round clash.
