Liverpool s midfielder Can to miss pre-season training

Liverpool May 17 (IANS) After being named in Germanys 23-man squad for the Confederations Cup in Russia Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will miss the start of club football pre-season training.

The 23-year-old has been called up by Joachim Low for the tournament which takes place from June 17 to July 2 according to www.liverpoolecho.co.uk.

Can in all likelihood will be granted three weeks off by Jurgen Klopp after the Confederations Cup.

Therefore if Germany make the final then he won t be reporting back for club duty at Melwood until around July 23 - meaning he would miss the tour of the Far East.

Can who also missed the start of pre-season in 2016 following his international commitments at Euro 2016 is about to enter the final year of his contract.

Germany are in Group B for the Confederations Cup with Cameroon Chile and Australia. Hosts Russia are in Group A with New Zealand Portugal and Mexico.
