Rever earns Flamengo 1-1 draw with Corinthians

Rio de Janeiro July 31 (IANS) A second-half strike from defender Rever earned Flamengo a 1-1 draw with leaders Corinthians in Brazil s Serie A championship.

Former Manchester City striker Jo gave Corinthians an early lead after a counter-attack at Corinthians Arena before Rever squared the ledger with a low shot after Juan s headed pass on Sunday reports Xinhua news agency.

The result extended Corinthians unbeaten run in Brazil s top flight to 17 matches. The Sao Paulo club lead the 20-team standings with 41 points while Flamengo are fifth 12 points adrift.

In other matches on Sunday Atletico Goias won 2-1 at Chapecoense Vitoria drew 0-0 at Cruzeiro hosts Gremio drew 1-1 with Santos Sport won 3-1 at Bahia and Atletico Mineiro won 2-0 away to Coritiba.
