Budapest Sep 4 (IANS) Portugal defeated Hungary 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup European zone qualifier here.
AC Milan striker Andre Silva settled the victory for European champion Portugal in the 48th minute with a header via Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo s pass on Sunday Xinhua news agency reported.
Following the loss Hungary were eliminated from the race to qualify for next year s tournament in Russia.
Hungary last participated in the World Cup in 1986.
