Last night, President Obama and his wife Michelle celebrated their Final White House Musical Event. They have started this event eight years ago to celebrate the music that has helped shape America. Obama started his speech recalling all the past performances saying, “We’ve had Bob Dylan and we’ve had Jennifer Hudson. Gloria Estefan and Los Lobos. Aretha, Patti, Smokey.” Before signing off from the stage Obama said this is just not the music for black people It’s an essential part of the American experience. WTN
