Narmada Express Way and Chambal Express Way will be constructed in M.P.

Bhopal: Two Express Ways namely Narmada Express Way and Chambal Express Way will be constructed in the state. A 1300 k.m. long Narmada Express Way parallel to Narmada river from Amarkantak to Gujarat will be constructed. Similarly, a 185 k.m.long Chambal Express Way parallel to Chambal river from Veerpur of Sheopur district to Ater through ravines will be constructed. In this regard, Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari has given approval in principle at the review meeting related to National Highways held here today. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that these two express ways will be an important gift for the state development.

Union Minister Gadkari said that land will be provided by the state government for these two express ways and construction will be carried out by Union Road Transport Department. He said that scheme should be prepared to develop new logistics park and townships near these express ways. He also gave approval to declare 2021 k.m. long roads as national highways proposed by the state government. Under these roads, from Chapda to Newri-Dewas-Ujjain-Badnagar-Badnawar-Petlawad-Thandla to Gujarat border, from Chhindwara to Parasia-Matkuli-Pipariya-Bareli-Silwani-Gairatganj-Begumganj-Rahatgarh-Khurai to Khimlasa, Sagar-Gadhaota-Damoh-Katni-Vyovahari-Manjholi to Bargawan, Jabalpur-Jabera-Nohta-Damoh-Hata-Simriya-Amanganj-Panna- Ajaygarh to Kalinjar, Kushi-Bagh-Sardarpur-Badnawar-Badnagar-Ingoria-Unhel-Nagda to Jawda, Chaabi-Shahpura-Umaria-Tala-Jaisinghnagar to Chhatisgarh border, Dabra-Bhitarwaar-Narwar-Satanwada-Shivpuri to Gorus are included. He mentioned that proposals should be prepared for railway over bridges required on National highways under the Setu Bhartam programme. Also modern transport signals arrangements should be made on these national highways.

Expressing gratitude towards Gadkari for approval of new express ways, Chouhan said that works on national high ways are being carried out speedily in his leadership. As per his vision, construction will be undertaken utilising modern techniques. Both the express way will prove important for the industrial development of the state.

Approval of around Rs.493 crore was given for strengthening of 900 k.m. roads from 2611 k.m. roads declared as national highways earlier. Also approval was given to include 14 k.m. long bypass road construction under the national highways. It is informed that the national highways was 5195 k.m. long in the past in Madhya Pradesh now it is increased to a total of 10 thousand 189 k.m. after notification of new 2611 k.m. long national highways and approval in principles for 2383 k.m. long national highways. Minister for Public Works Rampal Singh, Minister for Commerce and Industry Rajendar Shukla, Chief Secretary B.P. Singh, Senior Officers of Union Transport Ministry and State Government were present in the meeting.
