Bhopal: Woman and Child Development Minister Smt Archana Chitnis today discussed programmes for International Woman Day with woman MLAs. On the occasion, Public Health Engineering Minister Smt Kusum Mehandle and Urban Development and Housing Minister Smt Maya Singh were present.
In the meeting held in Vidhansabha premises, Smt Chitnis said that every day will be celebrated as Woman Day from March 8 in the State. She said that according to the top most priority of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, constant efforts would be made for woman empowerment and their better health in the state, district, developmental block and gram panchayat even door to door. 'Shakti Sangam' programme is being launched to associate intellectual women of urban areas to reach government schemes and beneficiaries-oriented programmes. Also, programmes will be organised throughout the year on theme 'Healthy Woman-Healthy State', Self Depend Woman-Developed Country, Empowered Family-Empowered Country and 'Service of Mother-by Mother'.
Smt Chitnis informed that work is being started at large scale for nutrition awareness under 'Healthy Woman -Healthy State' . With availing nutrition calendar in every kitchen, 'Poshan Vatika' will be developed door to door. It will begin on March 7 from Vidhansabha campus, residences of chief minister and ministers. Saplings of amla, karonda, munga, guava, kabit, berries, Bel, lemon, and sweet neem, which are useful for health purpose, will be planted in poshan vatika'. Along with developing nutrition smart village in each development block, Poshan Anand Mela will be held.
Self-employment fairs will be organised especially for women on theme 'Self Dependent Woman- Developed Country' for making women self dependent. Its beginning will be on March 9 in Bhopal. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate self-employment fair in Bhopal Haat. In this regard, 'Bank Maitri' programme will be organised to communicate information about schemes being run by banks and post offices and opening of account, borrowing loan and cashless transaction.
It was informed in the meeting that public awareness campaign will be introduced for de-addiction under 'Empowered Family- Empowered Country'. It will be introduced on Rakshabandhan. Smt Chitnis said that parents training campaign will be launched for imparting better taking-care of children.
Under 'service of mother - by mother' theme, community will be informed about valuable things being developed by the nature. Information will be given regarding protection of natural resources and their management. Smt Kusum Mehandle and Smt Maya Singh also gave their suggestions.-WTN
