Expansion Of Bank Facilities Must in Rural Areas

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh laid emphasis on expansion of bank facilities in rural areas. Singh said that bank branch must be started in each village having more than 5 thousand population. He was addressing the 163rd meeting of State Level Bankers’ Committee.

Singh said that banks have important contribution towards 20 percent growth rate achieved by the state. He appreciated the role of bank employees during the demonetization. Singh expected special attention of the banks’ representatives on employment schemes beside cooperation in campaign being conducted to double the famers’ income. Secretary Financial Services of Union Government Smt. Anjuli Chhib and Chief Secretary Singh inaugurated the website of State Level Bankers’ Committee.

Review was made on effects of demonetization, adhaar registration of bank accounts, mobile banking and digital payment arrangements to encourage cashless transactions in the meeting. Moreover, deliberations on implementation of agriculture insurance scheme, agriculture equipments, employment schemes like Mukhyamantri Yuva Udhyami Yojna, Mukhyamantri Swa-Rozgar Yojna, Start Up India Scheme, Bunkar Mudra Yojna took place in the meeting. Directives regarding Pradhanmantri Jan-Dhan Yojna, Kisan Credit Card, Rupay Card distribution and to increase its use were given. Also discussions on strategy to make the farmers’ income double till 2022 were held in the meeting.

Additional Chief Secretary Finance A.P. Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner Agriculture Production P.C. Meena, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Radheshyam Julaniya, Principal Secretary Revenue Arun Kumar Pandey and Officers of Lead Banks, NABARD and HUDCO were present in the meeting.-WTN
