Preservation of hand craftsmanship and skills is need of time: Governor Lalji Tandon

 Bhopal 09 Feb 2020: The Governor Lalji Tandon said that hand craftsmanship is the main foundation of Indian economy. Along with the opportunities of employment, artists also get respect by securing skills in the field of handicrafts. In the era of marketism and mechanization, conservation of hand craftsmanship is very important. The Governor was inaugurating the Hunar Haat Mela organized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India in Indore today.

Lalji Tandon said that India has a rich history of handicrafts and art. He said that in the era of marketism and mechanization, hand craftsmanship and skills need to be protected and promoted. A skilled person is financially self-reliant. An atmosphere of social harmony is also created through handicrafts and art, he added.
 
The Union Minister for Minorities Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that it is the need of the time to restore craftsmanship. Special efforts are being made for economic upliftment of craftsmen and to give them employment opportunities. This haat is also a part of this effort. Efforts are also being made to provide national and international markets to domestic products.

At the beginning, CMD of Minority Finance and Development Corporation Mohammad Shahbaz Ali briefed on the objectives of the fair.Window to News
