Srinagar, Feb 22 (IANS) The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday took cognizance of a threat to a senior police officer on social media and registered an FIR against a person for posting a "threatening message" on Facebook.
According to a police officer, Suhail Wali has posted a threatening message against a senior state police officer "with the explicit intention to terrorise the general public".
Besides, on the same URL address, objectionable material has also been uploaded with the intention to create panic and spreading threatening messages, police said.
"Uploading of such threatening messages has the effect of instilling sense of fear and panic among the family members of police officers," a police officer said.
Police have taken cognizance of this social media post and a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at the Cyber Police Station, Kashmir Zone, Srinagar.
