CM Chouhan deposits Rs. 146 crore for 66 lakh students by single click

Bhopal 30 May 2020; The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan deposited Rs. 145.92 crore towards the amount of 37 days of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme for the month of May and June in the bank accounts of 66.27 lakh students by single click today.

An amount of Rs. 117.11 crore of 33 days for the month of March and April has already been deposited earlier. Apart from this, a total amount of Rs. 84 crore in two installments has been paid to the cooks under the scheme. A total amount of Rs. 347 crore has been deposited under the scheme during the period of Corona pandemic. Benefit of the scheme has been extended to the students first time during the holidays.

Chouhan interacted with the students and sought information pertaining to their studies and their career besides measures being taken for protection from Corona. The Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Manoj Shrivastava, Director Mid-Day Meal Scheme Dilip Kumar and Secretary to CM M. Selvendram were present on the occasion.

It is to be mentioned that the cooked meal is given under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme to the children of targeted 1.13 Government Primary and Middle schools, Government Aided Schools as well as Madarsas and schools run under the Bal Shram project. Since it was not possible to serve the Mid Day Meal in the schools due to the Corona crisis, hence it was decided to give food security allowance to the children. In this order, the amount of Rs. 117.11 crore towards 33 days was paid to the children on March 29. Similarly, Rs. 145.92 crore has been paid today for 37 days. Thus, a total amount of Rs. 347 crore has been given to the students towards the food security allowance till June 13 including payment to the cooks.

Wheat and rice being delivered at doorsteps of children

An important decision was taken to distribute 26109.79 MT of wheat and rice at the doorsteps of 66.27 lakh children pursuing studies in primary and secondary classes in the state through self help groups, cooks and voluntary organizations. After the completion of this work, distribution of 29479.65 MT of wheat and rice has also been started under the second phase.

After depositing the amount of the scheme in the children's bank accounts, Chouhan interacted with the children of 10 districts. He told the children that their Mama has a lot of blessings for all his nieces and nephews. Schools are closed right now. Arrangement for ration and food security allowance has been made for you all. In order to avoid difficulties in this hour of Corona crisis, the families living below the poverty line were given rations for three months first and later for two months. Even the benefit has been extended to the families without ration card. Keep on with your studies. Books and uniforms will be provided to all of you whenever schools start. The government will also make arrangements for the students of Sambal Yojana. Fee as well as other facilities will also be provided. Chouhan told them to follow the guidelines like maintaining distance of two yards, use of masks and other necessary precautions to prevent corona. The pandemic will end and you all are required to pay attention on protecting yourself from corona to stay healthy. Not to be afraid of it, but not to be careless either. We all together will defeat corona. He further said that they should focus for a better future and bring name and fame to their parents. Chouhan told the children how the Prime Minister Modi has been continuously taking important decisions in the interest of the nation. Today marks the completion of the first year of his second term as the Prime Minister, he said.

Children share their future dreams, interacted enthusiastically with Mama and narrate lockdown experience

Ku. Uttaranshi of Dewas district said that she intends to study hard. Schools should open now. Saurabh of Dindori said that he studied and also gave time to farming during the lockdown period. Saurabh wants to be an engineer. Anuj of Guna said that he also read the books of 9th class along with the eighth. He wants to be an engineer. Ku. Durga of Sidhi informed about her studies. Divyansh of Chhatarpur and Richa of Gwalior also enlightened Chouhan with their study activities of two months. Radhika of Khandwa said that along with her studies, she also helped her mother in domestic activities. She wants to be a police inspector. Gitanjali of Sagar said that she also helps everyone in household activities. Her desire is to become a doctor in future. Ku. Khushi of Vidisha wants to be an IPS officer.
