Bhopal 3 June 2020; Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that as far as possible, 'local' should be used to make Madhya Pradesh self-reliant. The Self-Reliant mission of Government of India should be executed in Madhya Pradesh in tune with local conditions here. Groups of experts should be formed and elaborate schemes should be formulated on the basis of their suggestions, he added.

The Chief Minister chaired a meeting on Self-Reliant Madhya Pradesh at Mantralaya today. Director General of School of Good Governance R. Parashuram, CS Iqbal Singh Bains and CM's Principal Secretary Manish Rastogi attended the meeting.

Farmers to Get Fair Price

The Chief Minister stressed for drawing up a scheme to ensure fair price to farmers of their produces. He stressed the need for improving agricultural marketing. Farming should be diversified. The farmers should take to crops that fetch better returns. Agriculture pattern should be made better. Small farmers should get maximum profit. Cold storage facilities should be increased, he added.

Avail Maximum Advantage of GoI Package

The Chief Minister said that prompt actions should be taken to get maximum advantage of the special package announced by Government of India under Self-Reliant India mission. Loans upto Rs. 10 thousand and 7 percent interest subsidy on it should be ensured to small traders, he said.

Development of Forests and Tribals

Chouhan directed to formulate schemes for development of forests and the tribals taking advantage of rich forest wealth in the state.

Promote Local Products

The Chief Minister said that local products like Chanderi Saris, Bagh prints etc should be promoted. Network of small and cottage industries should be laid in villages.

Real Single Window

Chouhan said that in order to encourage industries and establishment of new industries the single window system should function like a real one. Industries in different sectors should be set up in accordance with state's requirements.

Need to Change Concept of Rural Development

The Chief Minister stressed the need to change the concept of rural development. Villages should be developed in such a manner that commodities are manufactured according to needs of the villagers and they are not required to go to urban areas to get them, he said.

Improvement in Education and Health Services

Chouhan said that in order to make villages self-reliant education and health services should be improved there. Good schools should be opened by forming groups of villages.

School of Good Governance

The Chief Minister said that the Atal Behari Vajpayee School of Good Governance and Policy Analysis should be made an ideal institution so that it can play a more effective role. Services of experts from different sectors from all over the country as well as abroad should be taken for this, he added – Window to News
