Barkatullah University Foundation Day celebrated on e-platform
Bhopal 31 July 2020: Governor Anandi Ben Patel has called upon teachers and academicians to come forward with a new vision to make the National Education Policy a success. Change in the working system is necessary for success. Work has to be done by mutual exchange of ideas with team spirit and a sense of protection towards the university and its students. She instructed the university to prepare an action plan for the next one year in accordance with the new education policy. Smt. Patel was addressing a programme organized on the eve of the 50th Foundation Day of Barkatullah University on online platform from Lucknow today.
Governor Patel said that the new national education policy will bring revolutionary and purposeful changes in the field of school education to higher education. This will create a competitive environment for the youth at the international level in the National Education Policy. Digital content and capacity building for both school and higher education needs of e-education will ensure alternative means of quality education. The formation of “Higher Education Commission of India” as the most important comprehensive body for all higher education will speed up decision making, and will also increase transparency.
She said that the work of instilling culture is education. The new education policy should be implemented incorporating the ideals of Indian culture like unity in diversity. The experts of higher education sector should also guide secondary and higher secondary education. New arrangements related to “e-learning” admission, fees, grants and training should be made. New institutions should be built with positivity.
The Governor said that technology has its benefits in the field of education. Our universities have made use of it successfully. Continuous work will have to be done to improve access to education, equity and quality of education to help teachers and encourage e-learning. Access to study material like e-Pathshala, e-books etc. will have to be ensured in remote areas.
She said that every crisis brings an opportunity with it. Covid-19 is also no exception. Now what kind of development areas and new opportunities can emerge. This has to be pondered upon. In the post-Covid world, instead of following, we must try to move beyond the existing conventions. She called upon all the teachers, students, thinkers, scholars, to consider how to make the best use of our people, our skills, our core capabilities to make India famous as a world guru.
Patel said that in the present times, the whole society will have to adopt a new lifestyle. Technology has to be made simple and well-equipped for the user to publicize digital activities more and more. The need of the hour is to think of models of such lifestyle, which are easily accessible. In times of crisis, our offices, businesses, trade should move at a rapid pace without any kind of loss to life. We must give priority to the care of the poor, the most vulnerable as well as our environment.Covid-19 has brought with it, new challenges of balancing professional and personal priorities. No matter what, we must take time for fitness and exercise. Also we must practice yoga as a means to improve our physical and mental well-being. On the occasion of the foundation day, the Governor remembered the son of the soil and great freedom fighter Prof. Barkatullah Bhopali, in whose name the university is founded and extended her best wishes on the 50th foundation day.
Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav said that the occasion of Foundation Day is an opportunity to be proud of the achievements of the past and reflect on the challenges of the future. The university has the challenge and responsibility of providing quality education in a competitive environment to the deprived sections, who cannot afford expensive education. For this, continuous effort is required. He congratulated and extended best wishes for the success of the programme.
Executive Committee Chairman of NAAC, Dr. V.S. Chouhan said that the new education policy is a golden opportunity to set new standards for academic achievements. He said that the policy should be considered seriously. It should be implemented with good intention. We should contemplate how to how to utilize the fundamental changes. He told to see what problems have occurred and take a lesson from them and guide the future. A time-bound goal should be set with a farsighted approach.
In his welcome address, University Vice Chancellor Prof. R.J. Rao highlighted the university’s journey of achievements and future challenges. He told that Barkatullah is the first university to have adopted an integrated process of quality management for quality improvement. New text courses have been started. Grants have been received from RUSA, UGC. Efforts are being made to build an international level sports complex. Registrar Dr. B. Bharti proposed the vote of thanks.
