Efforts will be made again to start other courses including medical education in Hindi

Bhopal 14 September 2020: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today dedicated the new building of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University Bhopal at Mugalia Kot, Vidisha Road through video conferencing. The dedication programme was presided over by Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh through video conference from Lucknow. Among those who were present as special guests included Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rameshwar Sharma, Higher Education Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, MP Vishnudutt Sharma and MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur. Chief Minister Chouhan said that efforts will be made by the Hindi University to start medical education courses in Hindi and regarding recognition to engineering books published in Hindi. In the past also, efforts were made to seek permission from the Medical Council of India for medical education courses in Hindi. While making these efforts again, students studying in schools through Hindi medium from rural areas will be provided facilities.

Presiding over the dedication programme, Governor Anandiben Patel said that Madhya Pradesh should guide other states in the successful implementation of the National Education Policy, for which education system will have to be changed. For this change, there is need to change the thinking of teachers. She said that teachers of Hindi and Science would have to be enabled in other subjects. The teachers’ training system and syllabus will have to be prepared accordingly. She said that the education system of the first five years is very crucial to educate everyone according to their interests. There is need for brainstorming and to ponder upon how teaching will be, what to teach, how its nature will be, how our tour programs will be, how cottage industries will be, how many such topics will be covered and then implement it. While congratulating for the new building, Smt. Patel said that it is not a building made of brick and lime, it is the centre where future of the students would be shaped. Efforts should be made to ensure that the atmosphere, trend here is such that students get what they want and the students leave the campus enriched by global knowledge, culture and our tradition and knowledge of life values. Smt. Patel said that Hindi should be enriched with medical, technical knowledge in order to grant global recognition to the language. Non-Hindi words should be used openly. Folk education developed in the Indian tradition should be included in the professional education of higher educational institutions. Universities should cooperate in preparing good syllabus regarding tourist destinations with cultural richness and diversity of the state.

It is easy to imbibe knowledge in one’s mother tongue

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh government will make efforts to provide education in medical, engineering and other technical subjects in Hindi. Chief Minister Chouhan said that students are able to imbibe the knowledge acquired in their own mother tongue more deeply. The work of starting Hindi University in Madhya Pradesh was not a ritual. This was a new step in the series of efforts made by former Prime Minister Atal ji at global level to enhance the status of Hindi. The Government of Madhya Pradesh had taken the decision to start a Hindi University with much thought, which was a step taken to provide an opportunity to the talented and capable Hindi medium students of urban and rural areas to acquire higher education in Hindi.

Hindi holds respect in developed countries also

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the knowledge of Hindi is not a sign of inferiority. Hindi is a respectable language. We cannot be slaves of English. Any person speaking in Hindi even in developed nations like Britain and America feels honoured and is looked upon with utmost respect. It is a misconception that there can be no progress without English. Today the mentality is such that speaking in English is considered a matter of prestige. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Hindi is the dot on the forehead of Bharat Mata. ‘Nij bhasha unnati ahe, sab unnati ko mool’( Developing one's own language is the key to all round development). Hindi is the third most spoken language in the world. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee used Hindi in the United Nations.

Atal ji’s Hindi is mesmerizing. Be it his speech or poetry, both are spellbinding. Chief Minister Chouhan said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also done work to establish the reputation of Hindi in the world.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that today most of the rural students are taking admission in Hindi University. Therefore we can say that the purpose of establishing Hindi University has been successful. Students do not lack talent. Due to English, the burden of language is an obstacle for them in the way to acquire knowledge.

It is our mutual responsibility to protect Hindi from distortion

While mentioning the distorting nature of Hindi, Chief Minister Chouhan, hoped that Vice Chancellor Ramdev Bhardwaj initiates research work to save Hindi from becoming distorted. Chouhan said that the number of Hindi readers is also on rise. Hindi magazines and newspapers are read with interest in India and abroad. Use of Hindi is continuously increasing. It is also important that we all enhance the acceptance of Hindi. Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is the responsibility of the Hindi University to enhance the status of Hindi as much as possible and I am confident that the university will move forward in this direction.

Protem Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Rameshwar Sharma also addressed the programme. He said that today the inauguration of the own building of this university, which is a brainchild of Chief Minister Chouhan, is an occasion of happiness.

At the outset, Vice Chancellor of Hindi University, Ramdev Bhardwaj, told in his welcome speech said that the inauguration of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University building established by the Madhya Pradesh Government under the Act 2011 is a moment of pride for not only Madhya Pradesh but for the entire India. This university is moving towards new heights. Efforts are being made towards academic upgradation in the university. About 60 courses are currently being conducted. Courses related to self-employment are also being included. This also includes courses providing other livelihood opportunities including startups. The target is to connect 15 thousand students with six-month and one-year courses.

The University currently being operated in Kolar Road will become more convenient for students from the new building and campus. He wished the university all the best for its progress.
