Indokh Barrage project to facilitate irrigation water and potable water: CM Chouhan

Bhopal 20 September 2020:  Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that along with the potable water, Indoukh Barrage project, constructed at cost of Rs. 79.03 crore on Chhoti Kali Sindh river in Indoukh village of Mahidpur district will facilitate irrigation water to the farmers. Irrigation facility on 6100 hectare area will be provided from the Barrage project. In addition, 23 villages of Mahidpur and Barod tehsils will get adequate potable water. On this occasion, CM Chouhan dedicated a high standard bridge on Kshipra river at Sipawra-Sagwali road and laid the foundation stone of construction works of Mahidpur to Nageshwar road as well as Jharda to Gogakheda road and also inspected the Indoukh barrage project.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the state government is committed for the upliftment of farmers. I will not permit injustice to farmers and poor. He said that Madhya Pradesh is Mandir to me and people are Bhagwan. There will be no shortage of funds in development works. Every possible help is being provided for the welfare of the poor. Food grains are being made available to the poor at low price. Minister for Higher Education Dr. Mohan Yadav, Member of Parliament Anil Firojia were present at the programme.

Chief Minister Chouhan dedicated the high standard bridge of 150 meter length, costing Rs. 704.09 lakh at Sipawra-Sagwali road on Shipra river, constructed by M.P. Bridge Corporation and also laid foundation stone of 34.75 k.m. long Mahidpur to Nageshwar road, costing Rs. 2947.92 lakh and 15.30 k.m. long Jharda to Gogakheda road, worth Rs. 1274.18 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana.

A glimpse on Indoukh Barrage Project

The cost of the Indoukh barrage project on Chhoti Kali Sindh river, constructed by the Water Resources Department in village Indoukh of Mahidpur tehsil of Ujjain district, is Rs 79.03 crore. The barrage project will facilitate irrigation on 6100 hectare area. Under this project, farmers of 23 villages of Mahidpur and Barod tehsils will be facilitated with irrigation water. With water storage capacity of 28.278 million cubic meters in the barrage, it is expected to have water in the Chhoti Kalisindh river for about 25 kilometers. Under this project, 5 million cubic meter water will be reserved for potable water. Having nine gates of 12x8.50 meter, the length of Indoukh Barrage is 320 meter and height is 15.40 meter. The villages benefitted from the barrage include Indoukh, Bansing, Patakhedi, Kacchliya Saiyyed, Naharkheda, Ladanpur, Bolkhedanau, Kharadiya Manpur, Lalgarh, Jharanyakheda, Kanthari, Ghattiyajassa, Lasudiya Nahta as well as Samakota of Mahidpur tehsil and Narela, Barothikhurd, Asindhya, Pipalyamana, Garda, Jhangri, Alsiya, Lalakhedi and Sunariya of Barod tehsil – Window to News
