Ghaziabad March 30 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh Power Corp Ltd (UPPCL) has launched a massive drive to realize its pending bills before the close of the financial year on Friday.

UPPCL staffers have disconnected 2 000 connections realized Rs 80 000 penalty from eight power thieves and lodged FIRs against 152 others.

UPPCL Chief Engineer S.K. Gupta told IANS that realizing the outstanding amounts was the priority.

In the last two days over 20 000 connections were disconnected for not paying outstanding bills he said.
