CM Chouhan’s calls on Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar

Bhopal 15 January 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal at the latter’s residence and urged him to grant approval in the upcoming budget for the construction of 105 ROBs (Railway Over Bridge) in Madhya Pradesh. Chouhan told that the central government bears 50 percent expenditure for construction of ROBs at all railway gates with traffic density of more than one lakh T.B.U. He informed that the state government is working on making necessary allocation available and seeking approval for state’s share for all these ROBs in the upcoming budget 2021-22. Chouhan expressed the hope that after the construction of all types of ROBs and under bridges in the next two years, there will be no obstructions in movement and traffic.
Chouhan informed that Madhya Pradesh was number one in the country in the purchase of wheat last year and every single grain of wheat in the state has been purchased from farmers at minimum support price and stored in warehouses. At present, 84 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been stored in the godowns of the state. Chouhan urged the Railways for an early lifting. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Chouhan thanked Tomar and said that the incoming wheat will also be purchased with the help of the central government at minimum support price. For this, he urged the Union Agriculture Minister for the support of the Centre in lifting of wheat.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said that during Corona period, there was no shortage of wheat for PDS system in the entire state. Even pulses were made available to the needy in ration under the Gareeb Kalyan Yojana.
The Chief Minister informed that about Rs 7000 crore has been spent by the state government in this entire distribution process. He urged the central government to reimburse this amount and release it soon, so that this amount could be utilized used in other development works. A proposal has been sent to the Central Government for complete tax reimbursement by the state for all the procedures related to it. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar assured that soon after the completion of the
process, he will compensate this amount as soon as possible. Chouhan informed that from the year 2011-12 till now, the State government has spent Rs 3700 crores under the food distribution system on ration lifting, which is still pending with the Central government. He demanded to release this amount soon and said that in this financial crisis during Corona period, this amount will prove to be helpful for development works.
