Transparency in University works is essential: Governor Patel

Bhopal 21 February 2021: The Governor Anandiben Patel has said that transparency in work, adherence to policy rules should be ensured in literally. As soon as the university examination process is complete, the students should provide marksheets and certificates online, so that students do not have to face any inconvenience in higher studies or employment applications. Smt. Patel was addressing the 98th University Coordination Committee meeting at Raj Bhavan today. Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Principal Secretary Higher Education Anupam Rajan, Principal Secretary to the Governor, D.P. Ahuja were also present.

The Governor Smt. Patel said that the convocation should be dignified and magnificent. Directs to conduct a definite procedure for all activities of the function. Also directed to complete the construction work and provide the compliance report within a time frame as per the agenda. The governor stressed on ensuring arrangements as per the interests of the students and said that arrangements should be made that depositing fees at one place does not hinder the selection of the student's curriculum and the institution's options. For this, the system of depositing the fee in the centralized bank account at the time of admission may be examined.

Mrs. Patel said that initiatives should be taken to make universities Aatm-Nirbhar in accordance with the new education policy. Referring to the mutual agreement signed by the Medical and Technical University of Uttar Pradesh, he said that both the universities are working on the basis of their own resources, construction of equipments, repairs and utilization of resources, etc. He asked the universities of the state to work on mutual agreements with agricultural and engineering colleges. He gave special emphasis on participation of students in the programmes of universities. He said that it is the responsibility of the universities to make the student a responsible citizen. Therefore, participation of students in campus and outside events should be ensured. Clearly mention such activities in the annual calendar.

The governor said that the Vice-chancellor should work by forming a team. Take the co-operation of experienced subordinate people and entrust them with the responsibility of continuous communication with the student representatives. He said that new courses in the self-financing scheme should be employment oriented. Uniformity should be created in the arrangements for acceptance, conduct of courses, appointment of faculty and salaries etc. He also directed the process of new appointments to be conducted with full transparency and recording of all interviews. He stressed on the sustained good innovations in universities.

The Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Mohan Yadav said that universities should work in tandem to effectively implement the new education policy. Make efforts with innovation by making maximum use of available resources, only then will you be able to better meet the challenges of the present time. He said the need is to help each other by creating mutual coordination and harmony between the universities. Efforts have to be made in a planned manner to further improve the gross registration rate of the state. Distance education centres have been set up in the colleges of the state, such efforts should also be made by the universities.

The Minister of Higher Education said that universities should take positive steps towards expanding agricultural education. He also called for efforts towards PPP model with new thinking to augment the financial sources of the university. The Minister of Higher Education pointed out the need to expand the sources of income, referring to the efforts made by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University to increase financial sources. He stressed on the need to work in coordination for uniformity in the examination, fees and various arrangements of the university.
