Implement immediate and long-term action plan for well-organised water supply in Shivpuri city - CM Chouhan

Bhopal 09 March 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that immediate and long-term action plan should be prepared and implemented under the Madikheda Water Supply Scheme to smoothly run the water supply system of Shivpuri city.

Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a high-level meeting to resolve drinking water supply problem of Shivpuri city. In the meeting, Sports and Youth Welfare, Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing O.P.S. Bhadoria, Additional Chief Secretary Malay Shrivastava, Principal Secretary Urban Welfare Nitesh Vyas, Principal Secretary Manish Singh and Commissioner Urban Development Nikunj Shrivastava were present.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that even after the completion of the construction of the scheme, why the water supply scheme of Shivpuri city is not being run properly in a well-organised way, what are the shortcomings in the construction and who is responsible for it, etc. these points should be investigated. Prepare action plan immediately to ensure adequate drinking water is available to the citizens every day. A permanent solution to the problem is required in a time-bound manner.

Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia gave detailed information regarding the water supply scheme of Shivpuri city. She said that water supply is disrupted due to repeated bursting of raw water rising, clear water rising and feeder main pipelines of the Madikheda Water Supply Scheme. She informed about the problem being faced by the residents due to this and stressed the need to rectify the water supply system soon.
It was informed at the meeting that at present, five M.L.D. water is available from Madhav Lake in Shivpuri Nagar, five M.L.D. from groundwater sources and 20 to 22 M.L.D. water from Madikheda Water Supply Scheme.
