It is Privilege to Live on Narmada Banks

Bhopal: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Omprakash Dhurve mentioned that it is a privilege to live on the banks of River Narmada. Dhurve was addressing the Jan-Samvad held at Lukampur of Dindori district today during the ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva yatra. President Jila Panchayat Smt. Jyoti Prakash Dhurve and other Public Representatives were present on the occasion.

Dhurve informed that Narmada river is only river in the world where parikrama is made. Bank of Narmada River was the place of penance of Adi Shankaracharya. Therefore it has more importance. He told the citizens that depleting Narmada water is the matter of concern. Water resources have to be increased for Narmada’s rejuvenation. Water of Narmada should be utilised but it should not be polluted. Dhurve further mentioned that we should take resolution to conserve river accepting the importance of water.

Moreover, Dhurve informed that the state government is paying special heed towards the surface water schemes. A scheme has been prepared for 160 villages of Dindori. All the villages of the district will be connected with Nal-Jal (Tap Water) scheme within next 4 to 5 years. He also obtained suggestions from the citizens for conservation of Narmada River. Dhurve and Chairman Tribal Finance Development Corporation Dr. Shivraj Shah and other guests performed Maa Narmada’s Aarti and administered pledge to maintain cleanliness in river, plantation and de-addiction. They also performed Kanya poojan on the occasion.

Earlier to this, villagers performed pooja of Narmada kalash and flag welcoming yatris on arrival of yatra at Hinota Mudki and Vichaarpur villages. Toran gates were prepared by the villagers at the entrance of the villages. Narmada yatra was welcomed amid flower showering and Har Har Narmade chants.

Chairman Tribal Finance Development Corporation Dr. Shivraj Shah addressed the Jan-Samvad held in government middle school premises on arrival of yatra at village Devra. He said that people’s cooperation is must to make the Narmada river flow incessant. Shah administered pledge to the villagers to make Narmada river pollution free, plantation and de-addiction. Sadhvi Pragya Bharti, Sarpanch Ranjeet Katare and Villagers were present in the programme. Cultural programmes were presented by the students after the Jan-Samvad. Contribution of Kamlesh Rao, Rakesh Soni, Praveen Verma, Vimal Burman, Kanchhedi and others in the programme held at village Devra was praiseworthy. They made arrangements of meals and pandal etc. collecting money with people’s cooperation.-WTN
