CM Chouhan’s initiative and guidance led MP to become No. 1

Bhopal: Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that there is much improvement in the cleanliness sector in Madhya Pradesh this year. Madhya Pradesh once again stands in the first position in cleanliness under the skillful leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also playing a major role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign. Naidu was addressing a Swachchata Sarvekshan award programme at New Delhi.

CM Congratulates and Appreciates

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated the citizens of Indore and Bhopal for having acquired first and second positions respectively in the country’s Swachch Sarvekshan-2017. The Chief Minister Chouhan has also congratulated the citizens from other cities of the state also included in the 50 cities of the country in different categories. He said that cleanliness will be made a habit in Madhya Pradesh. The state government and society will work together in this direction. Chouhan has also lauded people's representatives, urban bodies and other institutions of the awarded cities.

Indore bagged the first position while Bhopal stood second in the Swachch

Sarvekshan – 2017 conducted in 434 cities and towns in the country by the Union Urban Development Ministry. The main objective of the Swachch Sarvekshan-2017 was to study the progress of Swachch Bharat Mission and rank 500 cities of the country on the basis of cleanliness and sanitation. The ranking of the cities was based on data collection from 3 sources for which the survey has been segregated into 3 parts; Municipal documentation, independent observation and feedback from cities. 434 cities out of 500 cities participated in the Swachch Sarvekshan -2017.

More than 83 per cent people have accepted that their region has become cleaner compared to last year ever since the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan has been launched.

In the survey of 404 towns and cities, 75 per cent residential area cleanliness is more visible besides, in 185 cities the areas around the railway station is cleaner.

Union Minister Naidu honoured Indore Mayor Smt. Malini Goud and Commissioner Indore Municipal Corporation Manish Singh with the first prize for most clean city.

Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma and Bhopal Municipal Commissioner Smt. Chavi Bharadwaj received the second prize. Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department Malay Shrivastava was also present on the occasion.
