Society Must Take Resolution to Conserve Narmada River for Future Generation

Bhopal: ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ seva yatra reached its last destination village Rusamal today on its 8th day in Dindori district. Yatra has covered 33 villages after entering Dindori district on April 8. The yatra will enter Anuppur district from Dudhi Sheshghat on May 6. Grand welcome was accorded to the yatra in the villages of the district and villagers took resolution to keep Narmada River clean and free from pollution.
On yatra’s arrival at Rusamal covering Bhainslagan, Lutgaon and Udri, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Omprakash Dhurve expressing concern towards depleting water level of Narmada river in Jan-Samvad urged the society to take resolution to conserve Narmada river for future generation. He termed the decreasing forest wealth and water dangerous for the nature. He mentioned that felling of trees and farming on the edge of Narmada river has become dangerous for its existence.
Explaining the multi utility of Narmada river, he said that Narmada seva yatra is an amazing example of social service. Expressing concern over the water crisis in the district, Dhurve said that water will be supplied to every village after the survey of the villages. At present water is being supplied to 22 villages through pipeline.
Dhurve informed that a pond will be constructed in each village of the district this year. Plantation will be carried out on both the banks of river Narmada on July 2.
He told farmers to plant fruit bearing trees and said that this will increase income and at the same time will increase Narmada water level. Dhurve rewarded Baiga folk Dancers team for presenting mesmerising folk dance. He administered pledge to the villagers to keep Narmada river clean, plantation and de-addiction.CEO Jila Panchayat Rohit Singh also addressed the Jan-Samvad.
Villagers accorded welcome to yatra on reaching village Rusamal in the beginning. Women in large number holding kalashs welcomed the yatra. Beside Maha Aarti, pooja of Narmada kalash and flag was performed. District Coordinator of Yatra Jaisingh Maravi, Deepak Khamparia, Dinesh Burman, Ravi Burman beside Public Representatives were present in the programme.-WTN
