State-Level Wetland Sanchalan Samiti and Wetland Experts Committee formed

Bhopal: State government has constituted a State-level Wetland Sanchalan Samiti under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and a Wetlan Experts Committee under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary Urban Development and Environment.
While Union Forest, Environment and Climatic Change Ministry has declared the Urban Development and Housing and Environment Department as the nodal department, EPCO has been declared State Wetland Authority. The chief functions of the Authority include implementation of Wetland Protection Act and policy-fixation, preparing plan for counselling and integrated management, monitoring, evaluation, skill development, research, public awareness programme, networking and following directions of the centre and state government. Both committees have been constituted for time-bound, qualitative, effective implementation, inter-departmental coordination and conduction of the above works.

Among those who have been included as members of the committee are Principal Secretary/Secretary of the Departments ofCommerce-Industry and Employment Department, Kisan Kalyan and Krishi Vikas, Public Health and Engineering, Horticuture, Water Resources, General Administration, Panchayat and Rural Development, Finance, Forest and Mineral Department, Commissioners of Urban Administration and Development Department, Nagar and Gram Nivesh Department, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Representative of Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry, Subject experts, Professor Pradeep Shrivastava (Barkatullah University) and Chairman/Member Secretary Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
Urban Development and Housing Principal Secretary, Committee Member Secretary, EPCO Executive Director would be the coordinator.

The Committee members include Secretary/Additional Secretary of Urban Administration, Finance, Water Resources and Forest Department, Nagar and Gram Nivesh Commissioner, Chief Conservator of Forests, Member Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Control Board, Subject-expert Dr. Vipin Vyas (Barkatullah University) Subject-expert Indian Institute of Forest Management Bhopal Member Madhya Pradesh Science and Technology, Representative of Central Pollution Control Board Regional Office and Member Archaeological Survey Government of India Bhopal Mandal. Executive Director EPCO will be Member Secretary of the Committee.-WTN
