Formation of Olympic Task Force is Praiseworthy Initiatiev of PM Modi

Bhopal: Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia mentioned that Olympic Task Force constituted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to provide better direction to Indian Sports at International level is a praiseworthy initiative. The task force will prepare a wide level action plan and will provide ideas, suggestions for effective representation of Indian Players in three Olympics Games to be held in 2020, 2024 and 2028. Smt. Scindia was addressing the ‘National Dialogue on Olympics Task force’ workshop held at Academy of Administration and Management today.

Not Seen Such a Passion and Energy

Member Olympics Task Force Om Pathak and Baldev Singh who came from Delhi appreciated Smt. Scindia open heartedly. They said that they have toured 22 states but they have not seen such a passionate and energetic Minister like Smt. Scindia in any other state.

Smt. Scindia further said that an honourable status to sports is must and this is a beginning. Formation of task Force will facilitate redressal of sportspersons’ grievances at all level with transparency. She mentioned that on the one hand, state was honoured with Krishi Karman Award continuously 5 times in the leadership of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and on the other sportspersons of the state have established the state’s image on the international level.

Moreover, Smt. Scindia said that there is a need to change mindset towards the sports. Hence, sports in the form of subject should be included in schools at the primary level. Madhya Pradesh is becoming a model state in all the fields and now our aim (Chhuyenge Aasmaan) is being achieved in sports at international level.
Coordinator Olympics Task Force Om Pathak stated that as sports ground are termed as class rooms in foreign countries, in the same spirit , the school education department and sports department should move ahead simultaneously.

There is much risk of failure in sports but reward is even more. Failure increases feeling of competition, he added.

International Hockey Coach Baldev Singh said that hard labour with honesty and passion is required for success in any field. Secretary Sports and Youth Welfare Sachin Sinha mentioned that there is a need to identify and nurture players at every level with cooperation of School Education Department. Director Sports and Youth Welfare Upendra Jain mentioning about encouragement to sports science said that keeping in view the long term planning and for better results, we will have to work on performance capabilities, bio-mechanism, rehabilitation, coaching development programme etc. identifying the needs of players on scientific basis.

Director School Education Smt. Anju Bhadoria was also present on the occasion. Officers of School Education department and Sports Department gave suggestions in the workshop.-WTN
