Bhopal 11 april 2022 : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took part in the 195th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Jan Nayak of Backward Classes Welfare, in Damoh today. He said that social justice along with social harmony is Madhya Pradesh government’s resolve. Taking inspiration from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Madhya Pradesh government is working in this direction.

Chief Minister Chouhan announced that now on every year on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, there will be an optional holiday for government employees. Madhya Pradesh government will include the biography of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and his wife Smt. Savitri Bai Phule in the academic curriculum in view of whatever important work has been done by them for the upliftment of the poor, downtrodden and the education of the girl child, including the backward classes, and their views. One of the CM Rise Schools approved for Damoh district will be named after Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. The Chief Minister announced that now every year, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule will be celebrated with much pomp at different places. On the demand of Prahlad Patel, Chief Minister Chouhan also announced that Batiyagarh Gram Panchayat of the district should be made a Nagar Panchayat.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh government has also given constitutional status to Backward Classes Welfare Commission on the same lines as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes Welfare. He said that the entire life of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was spent in the struggle for women, poor and farmers. He sparked a new revolution in the field of women’s education and campaigned for widow marriage. This was the reason why he was given the title of Mahatma in the Kisan Sabha held in Mumbai in 1888. Chief Minister Chouhan said that there were only two Mahatmas in the country, one was Mahatma Gandhi and the other Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. India is blessed where such great men were born. The history that Mahatma Phule created through his hard work and the work he did in the interest of the backward and downtrodden classes and women has resulted in the schemes that have been launched by the Madhya Pradesh government for the welfare and interest of those classes.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the government will also bear the cost of higher education of meritorious sons and daughters of all classes in Madhya Pradesh. Last month, lakhs of students of all categories were given scholarship. which was deposited directly in their accounts by single click. He administered oath to the people of the backward classes present in large numbers to educate their daughters by following the path shown by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. Chief Minister Chouhan said that daughters should be given respect, people who disrespect them will not be spared and will be given harsh punishment. The Chief Minister praised Minister of State, Ramkhelawan Patel trying to reconstitute the Madhya Pradesh Finance Development Corporation.

Distribution of State Level Awards

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed M.P Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Service State Awards of three years. Cheques worth Rs 2 lakh each and citations were given for the year 2017-18 to Dr. Hukum Singh Kushwaha of Dabra, for the year 2018-19 to B. R. Satpute and for the year 2019-20 to R. N. Patil.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing, Industries and Jal Shakti, Prahlad Patel said that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule took the initiative to remove social inequalities. Patel said that Jyotiba Phule along with his wife make people aware and the awareness was an awakening of women’s education, opposition to child marriage and support of widow remarriage. That is why the society gave him the title of Mahatma.

Union Minister of State, Patel, while paying obeisance to Mahatma Jyotiba and his wife, said that the campaign of women empowerment started 200 years ago by them continues till today. Today is an important day because Chief Minister Chouhan has started the Jal-Abhishek campaign. If we protect nature, it will make the life of the coming generation better.

Minister of State for Food Processing, (Independent Charge) and Narmada Valley Development Bharat Singh Kushwaha said that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule has not received the title of Mahatma simply like this. He was given the title of Mahatma because of the struggle he went through while he fought for the backward, downtrodden and oppressed classes. He said that whatever the Chief Minister said he acted on it. He also urged to start a school in Damoh in the name of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, Ram Khelawan Patel said that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule has done remarkable work in the direction of providing the benefits of education to the backward classes, scheduled castes, tribes and other classes and women, hence he is called Mahatma. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs. 878 crore 97 lakh post-matric scholarship to 7 lakh backward class students in 2021-22.
Recently, on March 25, the Chief Minister has deposited scholarships to the accounts of about 3 lakh students with a single click.

Bhoomi pujan and dedication of development works

Chief Minister Chouhan performed bhoomi-pujan and dedicated development and construction works worth more than Rs. 260 crore for Damoh district.

CT Scan machine dedicated

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also dedicated the much awaited CT scan machine of Damoh district.
