Smt Sushila Bai returns her BPL card
Bhopal: Rural families associated with self help group constituted under Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission are moving towards prosperity. Economic state of the poor families is improving constantly because of availability of more than one resource for livelihood through the mission. More than one lakh 34 thousands families have overcome poverty and come out from BPL category in the state. One among from families, Smt Sushila Bai, resident of Kachnariya of Rajgarh district gave back her BPL card to gram panchayat.
Financial help was given to three thousand 113 families by Livelihood Mission with imparting training for building construction work. A member of Kailadevi Self-help group constituted under livelihood mission of village Kachnariya, Byavara block of Rajgarh district, presented a unique example in the society. She returned her BPL card and submitted application for APL card to gram panchayat because of her annual income becoming Rs one lakh 50 thousand from construction work job and agriculture. When asked as why she returned her BPL card, Smt Sushila Bai said that let the God not make them dependant on facilities of BPL card. Its benefits should be given to actual poor.
Many examples of overcoming poverty on the basis of empowerment of social and economic empowerment, like Smt. Sushila Bai, have come to the fore in different districts of the state. Special emphasis is given on development of self confidence and decision-making, community development, with empowering women in the training imparted by livelihood mission. State Livelihood Mission is working intensively in 33 districts in the state. There are many examples in the districts wherein poor families are getting economic progress by adopting more than one livelihood activities. At present, 20 lakh 67 thousands families have been associated with 1.79 lakh self-help groups by the mission.-WTN
