Engineering Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools’ Students to Conduct Child Labour Survey

Bhopal: Students of Engineering Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools will conduct a survey of child labourers in their concerned districts. Survey report will be handed over to the Labour Officer of the concerned district for action. Minister of State for Technical Education (Independent Charge), School and Labour Minister Deepak Joshi said this in a programme held on the occasion of International Day against Child Labour.

Joshi said that government and society should work together to save childhood. Law cannot do everything on its own. Everyone should cooperate to gather necessary facilities for education of poor children. He himself distributes copies –pencils in place of other gifts on his birthday among the poor children. Joshi mentioned that fee of students getting admissions in premium higher educational institutions will be paid by the government on securing over 75 percent marks in 12th examination through “Shikshak App”. Joshi also interacted with the children.

Chairman Child Protection Commission Raghvendra Sharma said that child labour is a cognisable offence. There are 5 thousand organizations working against the child labour in the state. He mentioned that a target should be set and whole hearted efforts should be made to achieve it. Programme was jointly organised by voluntary organizations Bachpan, Muskan, Vikas Sanvad and Prasoon. Mahesh Saxena and Social Activist Ramnarayan Tyag also addressed the programme.-WTN
