Bhopal: Gravel roads constructed under MNREGA in rural areas of the state is now making transport easier for people. Vehicles can be seen running on these gravel roads in inaccessible localities of far flung areas. With the construction of gravel roads, the commutation of villagers has become not only easier but children are finding it much more facilitating to reach school during rainy season.
Work of nearly 1,64,941 roads has been completed to connect village population of Madhya Pradesh to main roads under MNREGA scheme and construction of 22,473 roads is currently in progress.
Roads were constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to facilitate traffic in rural areas but these roads were made as per up to minimum 500 population. The villages-Majra-Tolas with population below 500 used to have difficulty in travelling through the rough trails to reach the main roads particularly during rainy season, when traffic up to main roads on vehicles was mostly closed and children would face problem in reaching school. Gravel roads construction through MNREGA has helped solve this problem. Now the connectivity of small Majra-tolas from far-flung roads up to barahmasi roads has facilitated traffic.
It is due to construction of gravel roads through MNREGA that villagers have been facilitated and their children are being able to reach school. These roads are proving to be beneficial to the farmers to reach their fields also. It has become easier for farmers to take their modern agricultural equipments to their fields. With proper vehicular traffic, it has not only become easier to transport crops, vegetables etc, but farmers have started getting proper price also. This has changed the social and economic condition of villagers and increased their income also besides due to better connectivity, the standard of living of villagers has also improved. Not only this, but villagers have also got proper employment from MNREGA.-WTN
