Global cues lift equity indices to new highs (Second Lead)

Mumbai July 11 (IANS) Positive global cues and healthy buying in automobile IT and capital goods stocks pushed the Indian equity markets to fresh closing highs on Tuesday.

Around 3.30 p.m. the wider Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) provisionally closed at a new high of 9 786.05 points -- up 15 points or 0.15 per cent over Monday s closing.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the BSE which opened at 31 789.50 points provisionally closed at a fresh peak of 31 747.09 points -- up 31.45 points or 0.10 per cent from Monday s close at 31 715.64 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 31 885.11 points -- a new record -- and a low of 31 718.48 points during the intra-day trade.
