June 21 (WTN)- Local media of Iran was reported that, despite an almost 40-year ban on women watching male sporting events, Iranian women would be permitted into Tehran’s Azadi Stadium to watch a live broadcast of Iran’s World Cup match against Spain.
Hours before kickoff, authorities said the event was cancelled due to “infrastructure” issues, but after a sit-in protest, all ticket holders — including women — were let in.
