Baked apples

Friday - January 18, 2019 11:18 am , Category : RECIPES

Ingredient:
6 cooking apples
90 g (3 oz) light muscovado sugar
90 g (3 oz) butter, diced
3 tbsp water

Method:
Wipe the apples, and remove the cores using an apple corer. Make a shallow cut through the skin around the equator of each apple.

Put the apples into an ovenproof dish and fill their middles with the sugar and butter. Pour the water around the apples.

Bake a preheated oven at 190℃ (170℃ fan, Gas 5) for 42-45 minutes until the apples are soft. Serve hot, spooning all the juices from the dish over the apples.

Citrus Baked Apples
Add the finely grated zest of 1 orange or 1 lemon to the muscovado sugar.

Baked Apples with Mincemeat
Use 125 g (4 oz) mincemeat instead of the sugar and butter.
