Chakhesang Naga House re-opens for visitors

Bhopal: The traditional dwelling of rich man house ' Kunemechi' of Chakhe sang Naga tribe mainly found in Phek district of Nagaland. The life-size house type has been renovated as museum exhibition in Sangrahalaya campus at Tribal Habitat Open Air Exhibition for depicting cultural representation of the respective ethnic community of Nagaland. This rare habitat was built in early 2000s. Still it withstands the most colourful, unique and majestic look and attraction. Any community heritage needs care and maintenance in regular intervals the same in Chakhesang Naga tribe also. Mr. Phisau (Team Leader) along with his group of artists came for maintenance work of this huge traditional house. The artists have finished the work in all aspects of this dwelling including re thatching of grass roof, replacing structural wooden pillar. The artists have completed their work and left on 4th Nov.

Now the exhibit is open for public display. On the reopening ceremony, Prof Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri (Director, IGRMS) and other staff were presented. -Windowtonews
