65.07 percent polling in Chitrakoot Vidhan Sabha bye-elections

Bhopal: Nearly 65.07 percent polling was recorded in today’s polling in the bye-elections at 61-Chitrakoot Vidhan Sabha of Satna district in Madhya Pradesh. Voters included 64.37 percent men and 65.89 percent women. Polling was conducted for 12 candidates including 9 independent candidates. The counting for the bye-elections would be held on November 12 from 8 am at Satna district headquarters.

Polling percentage at Chitrakoot constituency was 67.14 in Vidhan Sabha election-2013 with 66.60 percent men and 67.66 women voters. In year 2014, the polling percentage was 58.29 in Lok Sabha election. In this election, there were 59.77 percent men voters and 56.57 women voters.

Today before the polling began, 3 BU (Ballot Units) and 3 CU (Central Units) besides 4 VVPAT were changed at 6 polling centres during mock poll. During polling, One VVPAT each was changed at PS 111-Hiroundi and PS 74-Nayagaon. Citizens boycotted polling raising various demands at PS No: 117-Bichiyan and 179 - Barahna polling centres. Later around 3.05 pm polling began following the intervention of the District Collector and Superintendent of Police.

Voters in Chitrakoot electoral constituency took part in polling enthusiastically at the polling centres. Adequate security arrangements were ensured at all 257 polling centres. Special facilities were made available for the physically challenged voters in the constituency. Voters took part in the polling peacefully and enthusiastically.-Windowtonews
