Central Drought Relief Team Tours Vidisha and Tikamgarh Districts

Bhopal: Central Drought Relief Team visited the drought affected villages of Vidisha and Tikamgarh districts today and took stock of the drought situation arisen from the scanty rains. Principal Secretary Revenue Arun Pandey accompanied the team.

The Central Drought Relief Team visited drought affected villages Agrapathar and Tiloni of Lateri Tahsil-District Vidisha. Members of the team took stock of the crops and potable water in these villages. Collector Anil Suchari informed the team in detail about the state of drought in the district. Villagers have informed the team that scanty rains has caused destruction to the entire crop of soybean and urad and there is nothing to harvest. Potable water problem has emerged in the rural area. Wells, hand pumps and other water sources are dried up and villagers are facing problem for their livelihood. Moreover, the villagers have informed the team that shortage of cattle feed and water has become the big problem for the cattle.

After the tour of drought affected villages of Tikamgarh district, Collector Abhijit Agrawal informed about the scanty rains, status of potable water, ground water, kharif, rabi and available food grains besides straw through power point presentation. The team inspected agriculture fields, wells and ponds in Naiguwan, Madiya and other villages and discussed with the farmers who were present on the occasion. Local people have put forth their demand for employment and alternative arrangement for potable water before the central team.

Jila Panchayat President Parvatlal Ahirwar, MLAs K.K. Shrivastava, Anil Jain, Smt. Anita Nayak, Members of District Planning Committee Abhay Pratap Singh Yadav, Chairman Orchha Development Authority Surendra Singh Rathore, Public Representatives and the concerned officers were present on the occasion.-Windowtonews
