Rajni Bai-‘Roshni’ ki Nayi Kiran

Bhopal: We are talking about the Rajni Bai, a resident of village Ramnagar situated at a distance of 20 k.m from Budhni block of Sehore district. Rajni Bai is the secretary of a group ‘Roshni’ one of the 8 self–help groups formed on February 02, 2016 in village Ramnagar near gram panchayat Jahanpur.
The family condition of ill-educated Rajni Bai was miserable. The income source was also not satisfactory. Being a daily wages labourer, it was difficult for her to give education to the children and even to make both the ends meet of her family. In such situation, she started a small tea shop outside her home and started earning about Rs. 50 to 80 daily by selling tea and biscuits, which was not enough to lead a normal life.
The Mission In-Charge of State Livelihood Mission suggested her one day to open a shop at Badrabhan Ghat. The shop picked up gradually owing to the rush on the Budni Ghat. She has now started earning Rs. 300 to 400 daily from the shop. Her husband Jagdish Prasad also lends cooperation to Rajni Bai. A vulcanizing shop has been started by Jagdish Prasad near his wife’s shop.
Rajni Bai and her husband were benefitted by the Janpad Panchayat Budhni under the Livelihood Mission through Mukhya Mantri Arthik Kalyan Yojana. She has become an inspiration for other members of rural self-help groups. Rajni Bai and her family are now being looked at with respect in their village.-Windowtonews
