Academy’s Taekwondo Players Win 3 Medals

Bhopal: Taekwondo players of the Madhya Pradesh State Taekwondo Academy have brought laurel to the state by clinching one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in the 36th National Taekwondo Championship held at Jammu from November 24 to 26, 2017. Player Latika Bhandari of the state’s academy won gold medal in 53 k.g. weight category. She defeated Pooja Yadav of Uttarakhand in quarter final, Tasheen of S.S.B in semi final and A. Pooja of Karnataka in final to clinch the gold medal. Similarly, Vijayshant Kumar of the state’s academy won one silver and one bronze medal in new style of pumsey event and free style respectively. Six players of Madhya Pradesh State Academy were part of the 28 members’ team of the state who participated in the National Taekwondo Championship. These six players were trained under the guidance of Coach BLN Murthy.

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, while congratulating the players of the academy for this feat, said that the constant achievements by the playrs of the academy has proved that name can be written in golden words by clearing every obstacle by hard work and passion to achieve the target. |
It is to be highlighted that Latika Bhandari got herself admitted in the Madhya Pradesh State Taekwondo Academy in the year 2008 and since then she is taking training for taekwondo sports. She has bagged 07 medals in the International Competitions including 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze till now. Similarly, she has won total 11 gold medals in the National competitions. Vijayshant Kumar took admission in the Academy in the year 2017 has bagged one silver and one bronze medal in the pumsey event of Taekwondo sports.-Windowtonews
