Pacific School Games Championship from December 3 in Adelaide

Bhopal: The Pacific School Games Championship will begin from December 3 in Adelaide, Australia. As many as 180 players from all over the country will take part in the championship which includes 18 players from Madhya Pradesh. School Education Department gave the information that School Education Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has been nominated as the Head of the Delegation of the team of 180 players from the country. His nomination has been done by School Games Federation of India (SGFI). The total expense of his journey is being incurred by SGFI.

The championship to be held in Adelaide will conclude on December 9. The selection of the state’s players of the winning team of the national hockey championship held last year was based on age group. Besides this, the state’s players who won medals in the national competitions of driving, swimming, net last year have also been selected. The selection trial for selection of best players of Net ball and Soft ball was taken in Bhopal. Those players who took part in the 62ndNational Sports Competition in 2016-17 and are eligible on the basis of age were included in the trial. This way, 7 players in hockey, 7 in swimming and diving, 5 in Net ball and 10 players in Soft ball were selected.

This championship is being organized by Australia School Sports in which the last date of online entry was October 31, 2017. In view of the time-limit, the last date was extended to 10.11.2017 on the appeal of School Games Federation of India. A scanned copy of passport has to be attached with the online entry mandatorily. Hence, online entries of 8 participants could not be made as their passport copy was not received and 3 other entries were not made due to the non-approval. No participant has been declared ineligible by the Directorate of Public Instructions or School Games Federation of India. Instead they were deprived of participation as they were not registered and their passports were not received within the time limit.

The School Games of Federation India has appointed B.B. Saxena, Deputy Director Public Instructions as Assistant General Manager from the School Games of Federation India. The SGFI has included Smt. Anju Pavan Bhadouria, Director Public Instructions as Senior Officer. Expenses of Smt. Bhadouria and B.B. Saxena will be borne by SGFI.-Windowtonews
