State’s Irrigation Area to be increased to 60 lakh hectare: CM Chouhan

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the irrigation area of the state will be increased to 60 lakh hectare. A scheme is being formulated in this connection. Chouhan made this announcement while addressing the farmers in Antodaya Mela during Vikas Yatra at Nasrullahganj of Sehore district. He stated that Narmada has been linked with Kshipra to increase irrigation area. Arrangements are being ensured to supply water to the agriculture fields of the farmers. Chouhan further mentioned that activity to provide irrigation facility in additional 33 thousand hectare area of Nasrullahganj tahsil has been completed.

Regional Convention of Self-Help Groups in Sehore

Moreover, Chouhan said that the state government is committed for the welfare of farmers. Effective initiative has been taken for the empowerment of women self-help groups of rural areas. A concrete arrangement will be made to market the products of these groups. He announced for holding regional convention of all the self-help groups of the state in Sehore shortly.

CM Chouhan deposited an amount of Rs. 57 crore 10 lakh with one click system in the bank accounts of 55 thousand 150 farmers under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. At the outset, he laid foundation of 11 works of Mukhya Mantri Gramin Sadak Vikas Pradhikaran, Mandi Board, Panchayat and Rural Development, Public Works and Water Resources Department costing Rs. 213 crore 60 lakh. Chouhan also distributed land rights certificates to the beneficiaries.

Minister District In-Charge Rampal Singh, Chairman MARKFED Guru Prasad Sharma, Chairman State Warehousing Corporation Rajendra Singh Rajput, President Jila Panchayat Smt. Urmila Maretha, MLA Sudesh Rai and villagers in large number were present in the mela.-Window To News
