Balusingh leaves tailoring business to adopt horticulture farming

Bhopal: Farmer Balusingh of Samoi village in Ranapur block of Jhabua district had a well and tubewell for irrigation purpose but he was unable to irrigate his wheat and chana crop. Hence he had to work had to do tailoring in Ranapur to make both ends meet but this was not sufficient. 

One day Balusingh got the opportunity to see the fields of farmers in Petlawad and Kukshi in a Farmers Tour Programme. He gained knowledge about the technique of farming and decided to take horticulture crop. On the advice of Horticulture Department officials sowed cauliflower, brinjal, tomato, peas, onions and garlic in his field. This led to an unexpected improvement in his economic condition. Before using drip irrigation system, he would take only Kharif crop. He would sow wheat and chana also in his field but due to shortage of water for irrigation, sufficient production was not being possible.

With drip irrigation system, he got an additional income of Rs 75 thousand. Now Balusingh has purchased a motorcycle. He had got both his children admitted in good schools.

Inspired by additional income from tomato farming, Balusingh has planned to make horticulture farming his profession. Now he is preparing to grow more horticulture crops.-Window To News
