Farmers will prosper by constant expansion in Irrigation Area: Dr.Mishra

Bhopal: Minister for Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Narottam Mishra has described budget of Madhya Pradesh, which was presented today, as a public welfare budget. He mentioned that the provisions for education, health and irrigation like sectors specifically clarify that this government is committed for the welfare of the people. The government led by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has focused this budget on the welfare of the people. Attention has been paid on all the significant sectors in the budget. This budget will ensure welfare of the farmers and all other sections of the society.

Dr. Mishra stated that a new irrigation capacity will be developed on 2 lakh 5 thousand hectare area in the state during 2018-19. Work of Bina and other projects will be started soon. According to the budget presented today, an amount of Rs. 10 thousand 928 crore will be spent on the expansion of irrigation area. A network of small and medium irrigation schemes will be laid in several districts for the prosperity of the farmers in the state. Seventy new small irrigation schemes have been included in the budget. There is a provision of Rs. 369 crore and Rs. 205 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Agriculture Irrigation Scheme and Watershed Development Scheme respectively. These provisions will prove blessing for the farmers. Irrigation capacity on 11 lakh hectare has been developed in the state by completing 980 small irrigation schemes. Dr. Mishra further mentioned that as a result of constant good irrigation facility in the state, the agriculture income of the farmers will double in the coming years.

Moreover, Dr. Mishra said that Madhya Pradesh has taken an important step by making an arrangement of additional sum of Rs. 200 per quintal for the farmers. Necessary arrangements have been made in the budget in this connection. There is a provision of plentiful amount in the budget for the development of villages. An amount of Rs. 9 thousand 278 crore has been earmarked in the budget for the schemes of Farmers Welfare Department, which is 87 percent more than the revised estimate of 2017-18. Fifteen lakh farmers have joined Mukhya Mantri Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana in the state. Over 28 lak metric tonne crops have been sold by the farmers in the krishi upaj mandis. An amount of Rs. 1500 crore has been paid to these farmers. Provision of Rs. 1038 crore, Rs. 91 crore, Rs. 1627 crore and 1158 crore has been made in the budget for animal husbandry, cooperative and horticulture sector respectively. Dr. Mishra further said that a sum of Rs.1500 crore has already been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers against 28 lakh metric tonne agriculture produces. Similarly, industrial development in the state has always been the priority of the government. Therefore, a provision of Rs. 853 crore has been made for the industries. Pace of investment will be accelerated in the state, he added.

Minister Dr. Mishra mentioned that the union government has taken an initiative to start fully equipped in the villages under the health scheme Ayushmaan Yojana, efforts will be made to provide benefit to the large population of the state under the National Health Security scheme. This scheme will benefit 77 lakh families in the state, those which are deprived of good medical services presently. A provision of Rs. 5 thousand 689 crore has been made for health department. Similarly, provision of Rs. 2016 crore and Rs. 438 crore has been made for medical education and ayush services respectively. He further stated that an important initiative has been taken in the state for bone marrow transplant. Budget provision has been increased for cancer treatment. Facilities in ayush field will be expanded. An increase of 14 percent over the last year’s budget has been made in this budget.

Dr. Mishra further stated that the benefit of 7th pay-scale will be given to the employees working in autonomous institutions, self-financed urban bodies corporations and boards, which receive grant from the government like government employees. Similarly, the additional remuneration being paid by the state government along with the remuneration fixed by the union government to aaganbadi workers, assistants and sub-aaganbadi workers will be increased. In the same manner, announcement has been made by the Finance Minister today to increase the remuneration of kotwars. A special focus has been laid in the budget on urban development besides rural development. Baans mission will be activated in the state. Eight crore saplings will be planted. An increase has been made in the amount in the budget for tourism, culture, women and child development. This budget will also strengthen good governance, administration of justice and labour sector.-Window To News
