Burn units to be established at 5 Medical Colleges of State

Bhopal: Arrangements at wide level are being made for better treatment of patients, suffering from the fire injuries in the state. In order to provide good and proper facilities to the patients, burn units are being established at 5 medical colleges of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa and Gwalior under the NPPMBI scheme of the Union Government. An amount of Rs. 20 crore is being incurred to establish these units.

Almost 70 lakh people of the country become victim of various fire accidents every year in the country. Out of these victims, treatment is provided to about 7 lakh people by admitting them in the hospitals and about 2 lakh 40 thousand people become inactive due to the serious complications.

A 12 bed ward along with 4 bed ICU and OT are being established in each unit of the proposed burn unit in the medical college. Trained nurse, paramedical workers, general surgeon and burn plastic surgeon will be made available to take care of the injured patients in these units. Moreover, programmes will be conducted from time to time to spread information about the burn units among the common men.-Window To News
